new photos: flying and fireworks
and happy new year.
i owe you two of those, i believe. one for parts west. one for parts east. i’ve been incommunicado since way back in 2003 — no matter what calendar you go by. i am such a bad blogger.
but at least i carry a camera. and that’s what i’m here to tell you about today.
i am unveiling this site’s new — and, hopefully, incredibly improved — photo section. it’s still somewhat of a work in progress, but i got tired of updating two websites and figured i’d launch this early and unfinished version now.
the new photo section is part of a wholesale restructuring and redesigning process that is currently going on here at danwashburn.com (which somewhat explains my lack of productivity on this blog recently). thanks to the invaluable help of a man named frank — who some industry experts have dubbed “the flaming lips of web development” — an all new shanghai diaries will roar in 2004 … or something like that. (well, our color scheme will change — i know that much.)
anyway, back to the new photo section. the way it looks now is nothing like the way it will look in the coming weeks — so don’t get too attached to the puke-green background color. but some of the new features — like slideshow and comments — will be sticking around. and they will only get better as we continue to develop and tweak the new site.
so check it out. and stay a while. the new photo section has more than 2,700 ways to keep you occupied.
(but please remember that the new photo section is still very much a work in progress. there are bound to be bugs, and we will do our best to make them better. in fact, you can help out with that. after you take a look, please tell us what you think: what you like, what you don’t. you can post your suggestions as comments to this post. your input, and patience, are appreciated.)
so if you’re heading on in, let me suggest a few starting points:
* click here for drinks and dancing during western new year’s eve — and click here and here for fireworks and family during chinese new year’s eve.
* click here for scenes from my latest television commercial shoots: drawing crowds on the bund and flying high for amoi electronics.
* finally, click here for some recent views from my window.
enjoy.
